Film website

Film synopsis

The Magic Pills website is built on the excellent and modern Apostrophe 3 content management system (CMS), for which I have developed around a dozen extension modules to provide desired block-level building functionality—for extremely flexible and captivating landing pages—and typographical enhancements—for the site's blog and general aesthetically-pleasing typesetting.

Streaming and merchandise sales

I fully developed the website's backend API service, in Elixir, a very robust and reliable language. This service integrates an email newsletter service (ActiveCampaign), a transactional mailing service (MailJet), integration with PayPal for payments, custom anti-spam measures, an on-demand video provider (Mux), and a DVD manufacturer and drop-shipper.

The movie streams are buyer-specific and time-limited, encrypting and generating unique streaming URLs for each buyer, to help prevent illegal copying and distribution of the movie.

Lead-generation and calls-to-action

The website is designed to be lead-generating from the bottom up, asking for newsletter subscription on every page, as well as within content (such as articles). On a bi-monthly basis, a lead-generating campaign is run to engage new viewers, customers and potential future students, using a variety of medium-form video content, handouts, themed screenings, and more.
