A philosopher is brave and does not hesitate to criticize the wrong ways he observes in individuals and society. That is why he sacrifices his life for his fact-based research and way of thinking. Socrates was accused of bringing in new gods, refusing to obey our gods, and corrupting young people. As a sentence, he was offered three options: first to keep his mouth shut, second to leave the country and third to accept the death penalty Socrates, however, chose the third option because he did not want to live as a refugee in another country. Surrounded by his students and friends, he bravely squeezed the cup of hemlock. Socrates would probably have no place in philosophy if he had chosen the first two options. Philosophers, scientists like Marcus Cicero, Baroque Spinoza, Sigmund Freud, Galileo Galileo, Giordano Bruno, Nicolaus Copernicus ........ etc. are the ones who risked their lives for the principle and truth they believed in. There were so many others who were victims of persecution, isolation, and inquisition. Philosophers pave the way for scientists. What we accept today as science was once philosophy. For example, Copernicus overcame the later idea that the earth is geo centeric with the philosophy that the sun is helio centeric. As science today proves, Copernicus was right. It was Adam Smith who finalized the philosophy of capitalism, and today we see capitalism as the dominant economic system. So if these today are the result of yesterday's philosophy, then tomorrow's scientific facts are the result of today's philosophy.
