"Hasta el día de hoy, el aroma del té verde caliente junto al dulce incienso del aserrín de madera hace que mi corazón se detenga por un instante, y casi puedo escuchar el lejano ruido de las cigarras que chillaban al ritmo del golpe de martillo de un maestro artesano. Mi nombre es Hana Aoki, pero los que me conocen, me dicen Kinzen."
KINZEN is a tea house built around the ritual of tea, Japanese-inspired aesthetics, and the value of slowing down. The identity was developed to translate this philosophy into a contemporary and distinctive visual language.
The concept
KINZEN is rooted in the idea of finding meaning in simple, intentional moments.
Rather than approaching tea as a product, the brand frames it as a ritual: a moment to pause, reconnect and become aware of the present. This idea became the foundation for the identity, balancing Japanese cultural references with a contemporary, refined and highly tactile aesthetic.
Visual identity
The visual system was built around simplicity, balance and materiality.
The identity combines a restrained typographic approach with organic elements and subtle references to Japanese visual culture. Every element was designed to work as part of a cohesive system rather than as an isolated graphic device.
The result is an identity that feels quiet and sophisticated, while retaining enough character to create recognition across different touchpoints.
A tactile brand experience
The identity extends beyond the logo into packaging, printed materials, digital applications and the overall art direction of the brand.
Textures, compositions, typography and photography work together to communicate the same values: calm, craftsmanship, attention to detail and a sense of ritual.
The result
KINZEN's identity creates a visual language where tradition and contemporary design coexist.
A brand designed not only to identify a tea house, but to establish an atmosphere — one that invites people to slow down and experience tea as a meaningful everyday ritual.
