Ikigai

Long ago, four essential parts of life lived in harmony. Love, good, need, and paid. Suddenly, paid attacked, destroying the harmony. When needed the most Ikigai disappeared.

I’m sure you’re like, what’s Ikigai? It’s a Japanese word or concept. Simply put your reason for being. The coming together of four essential parts of your life. What you love, what you’re good at, what you need, and what you’re paid for. So, why is Ikigai important? Why does it have to resurface?

Have you ever had that daydream where everything is as you need it. Where you’re doing what you love without affecting what you’re good at. Sometimes, they are the same thing. You realize the strong passion that emanates from it. What you’re good at not affecting what you’re paid for, you’re lucky if it’s the same. Most times, it’s your profession. What you’re paid for not affect your needs. Let’s say vocation, if what your needs help smoothen what you’re paid for, it makes it easier. Then, what you need and what you love also goes hand in hand. That’s your mission accomplished.

You realized it’s like a circle and a cycle. Even a circle has dots, and when connected, that’s what makes it round. Find your calling. Sometimes, it may not be one thing all through but different things. Find the dots and connect them, there is always a point where they all link together. Ikigai is about balance, and then you find your reason for being.

I will say Ikigai is one of the keys to happiness. To find happiness, you have to be happy. When you find your (y) why, then you find your I, the I in your happ(I)ness.
