Mollie is a payments platform that helps businesses accept payments and manage money online.
Mollie Capital was launched as a new product to help SMEs access fast and flexible funding directly within the Mollie ecosystem. The project focused on communicating this new offering clearly and driving awareness, understanding, and adoption among existing customers.
My role
I worked closely with a brand designer on developing the storyboard, making it a collaborative process. I was responsible for translating it into motion – shaping the pacing, visuals, and overall storytelling.
The Brief / Problem
Access to funding is often slow and complicated for small businesses. Mollie Capital aimed to change that by offering a fast, flexible solution directly within the platform.
The challenge was to communicate this clearly in a short teaser format, making a financial product feel simple, approachable, and trustworthy.
Another constraint was visual: I mainly worked with just two product screens from the website, which meant building an engaging story with very limited source material.
Process
The process was highly collaborative from the start. I worked with a brand designer and creative director to align on visual direction.
The storyboard phase was key – we developed it together and went through multiple feedback loops with a product manager to ensure accuracy and clarity before moving into animation.
Once approved, I focused on translating static product visuals into a dynamic story.
Final Output
A short teaser video created for the Mollie Capital launch, designed for use across social media and the company website.
Results
The video was used as part of the official product launch campaign across multiple channels. It helped introduce Mollie Capital in a clear and engaging way, contributing to strong visibility and engagement during launch.
Takeaway
This project was a great exercise in constraints – building a compelling story from minimal visuals and simplifying a financial concept through motion. It also reinforced how much strong storytelling and pacing can elevate even the simplest source material.
