PlaceNew - Creative Agency Website

PlaceNew is a Toronto creative house working with brands across design and strategy. I led the design from inception to launch, building the design system from scratch in Figma, designing every page, and creating the motion work in After Effects before refining it through to release.

A creative studio's own site has to demonstrate the thing it sells. Anything generic undercuts the pitch, so the work had to show range and craft without becoming decoration for its own sake.

Build on a design system from the start so every page holds together as the site grows, then use motion as the element that carries PlaceNew's character rather than adding it once the layouts were fixed.

A design system built in Figma from the start kept every page consistent as the site grew. Motion runs through the site in a single register, tested in build so what shipped matched what was designed.

Two directions were built in After Effects: a flowing liquid treatment, and a diamond that zooms and resolves into the site. The diamond won for being sharper and landing on a single decisive moment, closer to how PlaceNew works.
