Payroll & People Operations Platform

OneHub is the operations backbone for TechFoundry — one platform that runs the company's entire people-and-pay lifecycle: employees, monthly payroll, tax compliance, expenses, rewards, time off, and finance reporting. I designed and built it end to end on AWS, with a React front end and Claude powering the AI features.

Running payroll for a growing team is deceptively hard. Salaries have to be withheld against the right fiscal-year tax slabs, payslips generated and stored, expenses collected and reviewed, and everything reconciled — usually across spreadsheets, photographed receipts, and manual tax math. Every manual step is a place for an error that lands in someone's paycheck or a tax filing.

I built OneHub as a single governed system with a module for each part of the lifecycle and a clear separation of roles (Admin and Accountant). The design principle was "calculate once, correctly": payroll pulls its brackets straight from the fiscal-year tax schedule, expenses are read and summarised by AI, and every finalised run feeds the same reporting layer — so the numbers on the dashboard, the payslip, and the tax certificate always agree.

Payroll runs — one run per calendar month, with FBR tax-slab withholding applied automatically from the Pakistani fiscal year the month falls into, bonus handling, and payslip PDF generation. Tax Slabs — an editable, fiscal-year-versioned bracket schedule (min, max, fixed, rate, excess-over) that replaces the whole year's schedule atomically. Expenses with AI — staff submit reports and Claude reads the line items, categorises them, and writes a plain-English analysis that flags policy risks and missing documentation. Reporting — a finance insights view that compares any window against the period before it: gross, tax withheld, bonuses, reimbursements, and net paid. Around these sit employees, rewards, tax credits, time off, a full audit trail, and a Microsoft 365 sync — all multi-currency across PKR and CAD.

A single, governed hub replaced spreadsheets and manual tax math for TechFoundry's team. Payroll finalises in minutes with correct withholding, payslips and tax certificates generate on demand, and expense reports effectively review themselves. The platform runs multi-currency across PKR and CAD, and has delivered $10K+ on the engagement so far — with the build ongoing.
