Project Summary

The Current is a media publication that is launching a new website with the support of Google News Initiative. As part of a brand refresh, The Current tasked me to develop a new website for them.

The goal behind the new website was to create hub for all the content that the platform was creating. A place where their video content and textual content live side by side cohesively.

Furthermore, the platform had a huge percentage of young audience. And they wanted the website's UI and UX to nudge that audience to engage with their content over the website.

We explored multiple directions for the navigation menu design since this is going to be at the heart of the whole experience. We landed on the vertical menu bar for the navigation. It helped the platform stand out while also being very functional.

The core design was centered on ensuring that the content of all types had its own space and was presented in a way that catered to a variety of audiences.

I also created a variety of engaging modules to keep the viewers interested and to nudge them to interact with the platform.

The final design solution ended up being a very successful implementation of form vs function.
