For content creators and users, the genre of short videos has created a new platform for video creation, sharing, and consumption.
Videos that were previously planned, lengthier, largely recorded on professional cameras, and in a horizontal format, have changed to be shorter, vertical, spontaneously shot on phones, and in-the-moment performances by individuals to 15–60 seconds.
This became a worldwide craze because to apps like TikTok. Due to this, all of the current video leaders, including YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram, launched aggressive campaigns and made significant financial investments in an effort to displace TikTok and its millions of users.

Improving User Experience (Switching between Videos & Shorts tab)
Long videos (Landscape) and short videos (Rounded) are both abundant on the YouTube landing page.
Imagine that while browsing YouTube, you came across two fascinating videos that you would want to watch. One video is a 36-minute episode of Shark Tank, while the other is a 30-second short by Andrew Tate.
What choice will you make? Which video — the 36-minute Shark Tank video or the 30-second Andre Tate clip — will you choose?
Given that it is just 30 seconds long and that the shark tank video is 36 minutes long, I would unquestionably prefer the Andrew Tate video first.
but this is the problem. As soon as you watch the 30-second clip and return to the landing page to watch the shark tank video, YouTube will refresh the page, and if you’re lucky, your shark tank episode will still be there or it will go to someplace towards the bottom of the page. Which gives the users a poor user experience.
Luckily, my Shark Tank video is still up, but you can see that two other videos have been changed. My YouTube videos are still available because I don’t follow many content creators, however if you follow a lot of YouTube creators, the video won’t be available when you return.
Why this is happening and how to solve it?
Have you ever noticed this?
YouTube redirects you to the short section when you click on a short video on the homepage. It’s more like opening a new tab, and if you try to return, YouTube will of course reload the page. This is how redirection works!
Exisiting UI of YouTube
How do I solve it?
Instead of sending users to the shorts page, YouTube may display the short videos as an overlay with a close icon. When you go back, it will stop the page from reloading. The ability for users to find previously accessible videos will be helpful.
