GILA was a personal project that I recently designed. After moving to a more metropolitan area of NC, it was hard to ignore how stark the difference in public transportation here is vs. the smaller town I lived in previously. The town I moved from wasn't small by any means, but it still struggled badly with public service funding and homelessness, and in my opinion these 2 things were intrinsic. So, this sparked an idea.

What if there were more options for public transportation? Some that were low-cost or even free? What if those were also community building tools? GILA was just that- a low to zero cost public transportation system, utilizing services like rideshare programs and e-scooter rentals/donations. Users could donate and fund local rides to get people in their direct communities to and from places like work, medical appointments, school, and other needs.
