When 18th-century heritage meets 22nd-century

When 18th-century heritage meets 22nd-century innovation. My submission for the FLORA x The Met challenge reimagines The Met's iconic Royal George cello.

Why the (Royal George) Cello? When exploring the museum's archives, I was looking for a musical instrument whose excellence is attested by history and which carries that story behind it. This cello caught my eye with its intricate gold filigree, and how it carries the feeling of the emotions that used to play it.

Does its music stop at that era? Of course not. So I thought of making the rhythm of this cello bring us back to the past using its strings, to those parties full of joy and bustle witnessed by that era, taking shape in that dark black structure and the blue glow as a gateway to the future, as if it were alive despite its stillness, while preserving its original details of the engravings while developing them in the 22nd century.
