In 2000, a disgruntled ex-meteorologist turned screenwriter watches her script for Twister: Origins get ruined by a B-list director, while an old rival joins the chaos.
It’s 2000, three years afterTwister hit theaters, and Hollywood is ready to cash in on a sequel—or maybe a prequel? Enter Beatrice, an ex-meteorologist and rookie screenwriter, who watches in horror as her brilliant script for Twister: Origins is torn apart by Randy, a B-grade action director. Not only is he rewriting her work, but he's also aging down the female protagonist and pushing for some highly questionable tornado scenes. Worse yet, no one knows that Beatrice wrote the original screenplay, and her job as a tornado consultant is being undermined at every turn.
To complicate matters, Randy hires his own weather expert, Benedict, a former high school theatre rival of Beatrice. Their constant bickering nearly derails the entire production, but when real tornadoes start showing up on set, the pair must put aside their differences and combine their expertise to save the cast and crew—and maybe the script—from total disaster.
This script is my love letter to natural disaster movies, a genre I’ve been fascinated with since I saw my first tornado in second grade. It’s a mix of my passion for Twister, Shakespeare, and filmmaking. Twister 2.0 Reloaded to the Max is a comedic, behind-the-scenes look at the making of a hypotheticalTwister prequel/sequel, with a side of tornado valley chaos. It’s also the final deck in my Pitch Dash series, where I created 7 pitches in 14 days.
Now if tornadoes just aren't your think, perhaps this melancholic film is, check out my deck for Hot Chips.
