Driftline Coffee is a coffee brand concept built around the feeling of movement, exploration, and slow moments along the way.
The creative direction combines a warm, handcrafted coffee aesthetic with an adventurous, urban personality. I wanted the brand to feel like something you would discover on a road trip, at a neighborhood café, or during a quiet morning before heading somewhere new.
The visual language is inspired by travel, coffee culture, maps, routes, and everyday exploration, giving Driftline a personality that feels both nostalgic and contemporary.
The Creative Direction
The identity uses a warm and earthy palette built around cream, deep green, terracotta, and natural kraft tones.
I paired bold typography with illustrated graphic elements, hand-drawn characters, coffee references, route-inspired details, and vintage-inspired compositions to create a visual system that feels authentic and memorable.
The central brand message revolves around:
“Start here. Sip slow. Move fast.”
This became a key part of the brand personality—balancing the energy of movement with the ritual of slowing down for a good cup of coffee.
Brand Identity
The identity was designed to work across different formats while maintaining a consistent personality.
Key elements include:
Driftline Coffee logo
Secondary logo variations
Brand typography
Color system
Illustrated graphic elements
Coffee and travel-inspired icons
Hand-drawn visual language
Brand messaging
Packaging graphics
The circular coffee mark and illustrated elements help establish a recognizable visual signature that can work independently or alongside the primary wordmark.
Packaging Design
A major focus of the project was creating packaging that feels like an extension of the brand story.
I designed a coffee shipping box and coffee bag packaging using natural kraft textures, bold typography, and illustrated route-inspired details.
The packaging combines:
Functional information + brand storytelling + visual personality
The result is packaging that feels tactile and authentic while still standing out on a shelf or in a delivery experience.
Illustration & Graphic Language
One of my favorite parts of this project was developing the illustrated visual language.
The graphics combine coffee culture, bicycles, transportation, maps, people, signs, and everyday moments to reinforce the idea of a coffee brand connected to movement and exploration.
These illustrations give Driftline a more human and distinctive personality instead of relying purely on typography and photography
Brand Applications
I expanded the identity across a range of real-world touchpoints, including:
Coffee packaging
Shipping boxes
Coffee bags
Business cards
Posters

Aprons
Café uniforms
Social media-style graphics

This helped test how the identity behaves across both customer-facing experiences and everyday brand operations.

The Challenge
The goal was to create a coffee brand that didn't feel like another generic specialty coffee identity.
Instead, I wanted Driftline to have a strong point of view and a story people could connect with.
The challenge was balancing the warmth and craft associated with coffee with a sense of movement and adventure. The solution was to combine earthy colors, bold typography, vintage-inspired graphics, route illustrations, and tactile packaging into one cohesive system.
Outcome
Driftline Coffee became a complete visual identity built around a simple idea:
Good coffee. Better routes.
The project allowed me to explore how branding can turn an everyday product into a lifestyle and emotional experience, from the first impression of the logo to the packaging someone holds in their hands.
A warm, adventurous coffee brand made for people who never stop exploring.
Developed a unique brand identity and packaging design for Driftline Coffee. The creative direction crafted a coffee aesthetic with an adventurous feel.
