What's Namma Kitchen?

Namma Kitchen is a major cloud kitchen and food catering service provider specialising in serving IT organisations. Namma Kitchen offers a comprehensive choice of culinary options to appeal to the diverse tastes and preferences of IT professionals. Where users can use POS to order meals and pick it up from their cafeteria.

My Role

I started this project from research to visual design and created an array of fresh designs for the POS.
In the initial stages, I worked along with a developer to come up with best possible solution that was feasible. as the POS consists for a RFID card reader which reads the card data to get into the application. we sketched the whole flow in a whiteboard (Both frontend and backend) to get a better understanding. Later on, I led the effort to implement designs with in Figma and for animations and micro-interactions using Rive.

Creating a vision

I started with in a week long visual design sprint to design an ideal creation experience for the Point of Sale users. By the end of the sprint, I had come up with 4 sets of ideas along the following lines:
User Research
Interaction
Execution

User Research Goals

In the begining, it was a personal pain point of myself and the team. After conversing with several colleagues we realized that in order to make a successful product, we would need to interview more than just people of our age group. People order and buy food for many reasons, and being able to pin-point the struggles of multiple persona types would allow us to reverse engineer a better travel experience. We put our research efforts into three specific areas of study:

Question areas:

When doing user interviews, we began to identify a lot of patterns in people's answers. We quickly realized that keeping the questions vague was not the answer, so we decided to sit down and get laser focused about the problem areas that were related to food order, and receiving the meal. Doing this greatly helped frame the conversation when asking potential users how they went about their ordering food before, during and after.
