Financial Data & Analysis Platform (BUCS Analytics)

Overview

Bucs is a financial analysis and data management platform built for accounting firms and financial advisors. The platform automates data ingestion from multiple financial sources, reconciles transactions, and delivers client-ready reports — replacing hours of manual spreadsheet work with real-time dashboards.

The Problem

The client's accountants were spending 60–70% of their time manually pulling data from QuickBooks, bank exports, and client-uploaded CSVs, then reconciling it in Excel. Errors were frequent and report turnaround was 3–5 days.

What I Built

Multi-source Data Ingestion — automated sync with QuickBooks Online API, direct banking API connections, and CSV/Excel upload with intelligent column mapping
Reconciliation Engine — rule-based transaction matching engine that flagged mismatches and surfaced exceptions for human review, reducing reconciliation time by 80%
Multi-tenant Architecture — each accounting firm gets an isolated workspace with their own clients, data, and branding
Reporting Engine — parameterized report builder generating PDF/Excel outputs (P&L, cash flow, balance sheet, aging reports) on schedule or on demand
Audit Trail — full change log on every data modification for regulatory compliance
Role-based Access — firm admin, staff accountant, and read-only client viewer roles with granular permissions

Tech Stack

Frontend: Angular, TypeScript, AG Grid, Chart.js Backend: .NET Core 7 Web API, SignalR (real-time reconciliation status) Integrations: QuickBooks Online API, Open Banking APIs, Stripe (billing) Database: SQL Server, Redis Infrastructure: Azure (App Service, Azure SQL, Blob Storage, Key Vault), Azure DevOps CI/CD

Outcome

Cut report preparation time from 3–5 days to under 4 hours for the pilot firm. The platform went live with 3 accounting firms in the first quarter and scaled to 11 within 6 months.
