Geest was designed to help students stay updated on campus news and events in real time. The goal was to create a simple, location-based platform that keeps campus communities connected and informed.
The Goal
To make campus communication seamless by allowing students to instantly share and access real-time updates within their location. Geest aims to reduce missed information, strengthen campus engagement, and build a connected student community through simple, fast, and reliable news sharing.
The Approach
I focused on how students actually get and share news on campus. Most relied on group chats or word of mouth, which often made updates easy to miss. So, I designed Geest around quick posting and real-time updates tied to location. The interface was kept clean and familiar, making it easy for anyone to see what’s happening around them without effort.

Challenges
One major challenge was figuring out how to make real-time updates feel relevant without overwhelming users with too much information. Balancing simplicity with enough features to keep the app useful also took a few design iterations. Another hurdle was defining how posts should appear based on location while keeping the experience smooth and fair for all users.

Outcome
The final design made it easier for students to stay informed without constantly checking multiple platforms. Geest created a sense of connection on campus by letting students see what was happening around them in real time. The feedback from early testers showed that the idea felt useful, familiar, and something they’d actually use every day.
