The problem
Learners who want to speak English better need feedback on how they actually speak, while they practise. The goal was a dashboard that gives that feedback in real time.
What I built
A speaking skills dashboard where learners work through interactive exercises and see their feedback in the same place
Real-time AI feedback on three things that matter in spoken English: pronunciation (how words sound), grammar (how sentences are built) and fluency (how smoothly someone speaks)
A Node.js backend that calls OpenAI to generate the feedback
A Next.js frontend for the dashboard and exercises
How it works
The learner completes an exercise in the dashboard
The backend passes the response to OpenAI
The feedback comes back to the learner right away

My role
Software engineer on a freelance Upwork client project. I built both the Next.js frontend and the Node.js backend, including the OpenAI integration.
