Image Compression Web App - Wakety

Worked on a technologic revamp in a Image Compression Web Application, made by an Ex-Facebook engineer.

Lead the project in a whole scale revamp, optimization and creation of new features. In this project, I've worked closely with the CEO of the company, hearing his requests, brain-storming best approaches to solve their specific problems!

The process

I was hired as a contractor for this project, so we did a ramp-up in which we talked about this project needs, how we could tackle them and so on.

We used many methodologies from Facebook, in which we worked on really small code changes, reviewed them and deployed them. This usually would happen 15 times day!

Many changes of the revamp were focused on marketing and improving the UX of the whole app. As well, we added new features, just like client-side zipping of images, dynamycally generating thumbnails, reduced the time spent on compressing images by almost 80% by integrating a queue and many more!

End result

The client ended up with an improved product, with new features and optimizations performed. I was able to learn new things and adapt to a process that was unknown for me, flexibility was the key to make this one, a succesful project.
