The Brief:
Design an album cover of our choice. The design must relate to either the theme of the album or the lyrics contained within the album.
The Concept:
I chose the album 20/20 by Bon Jovi. The album is a political statement by the band on the current state of the USA under Donald Trump. The design is directly influenced by the album's third track American Reckoning.
The track directly references the unlawful killing of George Floyd and the subsequent BLM protests that followed. The opening lyrics are "America's on Fire, There's protests in the street"
The Font and Process:
I always wanted to push myself with this brief. Crafting is definitely not something I would normally choose as it’s a bit tricky. I choose card as the material as this would burn easily and was more cost effective than other options I’d considered like pieces of wood. I knew setting fire to it I would have very limited time to get the photographs right, it was the most stressful project I’ve done. In terms of the font I chose Poppins Semi Bold as this closely reflected the font the band traditionally use.
