A Website for a Painter
Portretelacomanda.ro is a custom-built website for my husband, Ioan Pintea — a painter who creates commissioned portraits, landscapes, and still life pieces in acrylic on canvas.
The brief was simple: build something that lets the art speak first, then makes it easy to order. No WordPress this time — I went with custom HTML/CSS to keep it lightweight, fast, and fully under control.
What I Built
Custom HTML/CSS website — no CMS, no bloat, full performance
Art gallery with category filters (portraits, landscapes, still life, compositions)
Lightbox image viewer for full-size artwork browsing
Artist bio section with personal story and creative philosophy
Commission order form with WhatsApp redirect for direct communication
Responsive design optimized for mobile browsing
All copywriting — artist description, section headers, CTAs, written by me
Design Approach
The design stays out of the way. Dark background, generous spacing, and a grid layout that puts the paintings front and center. The gallery filters let visitors browse by category without reloading the page.
The conversion path is straightforward: browse the gallery, get inspired, scroll to the order form, pick a painting type, and send a WhatsApp message. No friction, no unnecessary steps.
This project was a different challenge from my usual WordPress builds — writing clean HTML/CSS from scratch, handling the gallery interactions, and designing for a completely different audience (art buyers vs. service clients).
