One day in the colorful forest of Byfox Hills, a little red fox named Freddy Fox played in his den house with his favorite fire truck toy while his mother prepared breakfast for the family.
“Vroom, Vroom!” Freddy Fox said, pretending to drive his fire truck into a fire station made of building blocks.
“Oh, dear, it looks like we’re out of maple syrup. We can’t have pancakes without syrup.” Freddy’s mother, Frances Fox, said to herself.
“Freddy, dear, can you go outside and gather some maple syrup from the maple tree, please?” Freddy’s mother asked him.
“Yes, mother,” Freddy Fox said.
Freddy Fox put his toys inside his toy box, put on his shoes and jacket, grabbed the metal bucket by the door, and went outside to gather a bucket of maple as his mother asked. When Freddy Fox arrived at the maple tree, he noticed a huge brown spider sitting on its web, blocking the tree.
“Oh no!” Freddy Fox shriveled in fear.
Freddy Fox’s older siblings, Freya Fox, and Franklin Fox played nearby when they noticed something frightened their little brother.
“What’s wrong, Freddy?” Freddy’s big sister, Freya Fox, asked.
“Mother asked me to fetch some maple syrup from the maple tree for breakfast, but a big spider is blocking the tree, and I’m too scared to walk past the web.”
