Objective:
The goal of this project was to design a fillable assessment tool for David Rendall’s Four Factors of Effective Leadership. This fillable PDF was created to enable individuals to easily self-assess and reflect on their leadership skills by focusing on four essential factors: Influence, Integrity, Improvement, and Inspiration.
Context:
This assessment, developed in collaboration with David Rendall, serves leaders, coaches, educators, and others interested in enhancing their leadership abilities. Rendall’s purpose was to provide an interactive, accessible resource for personal development. My role involved creating a clean, user-friendly layout with fillable fields to enhance usability and encourage engagement with the content.
Challenges:
Designing a fillable PDF posed unique challenges, as the interactive elements needed to be seamlessly integrated into the layout without disrupting the visual flow. Ensuring that each section's fillable fields were intuitive and easy to locate was essential for maintaining the assessment’s clarity and usability.
Process:
After reviewing the assessment's content with Rendall, I designed a structured layout that prioritized readability and simplicity. I then added fillable fields for each rating scale and reflection section, ensuring that users could input their responses directly. I tested the fillable functionality across multiple devices to confirm that users would experience a smooth interaction, regardless of the platform.
Learnings:
This project underscored the importance of balancing aesthetics with functionality in interactive documents. I learned valuable techniques for integrating fillable elements that enhance usability while maintaining a cohesive design. Working closely with Rendall also highlighted the importance of aligning the fillable experience with the overall educational goals of the content.
