Joffrey’s Walt Disney World® 50th Anniversary Blend & Launch Video

As Walt Disney World® prepared to celebrate the park’s 50ᵗʰ anniversary, they approached Joffrey’s Coffee, their official specialty coffee partner, to develop an LTO coffee blend to commemorate the celebration. As the designer there, I worked with our V.P. of Marketing & the Disney team to develop the packaging and launch video.
This blend sold 10x the original projected yearly sales, and at the time rapidly became the company’s all-time best seller.
Combining Joffrey’s and WDW® 50ᵗʰ Anniversary Celebration’s branding guidelines, I designed a coffee bag that mimicked the gold accents used through the parks during the 18-month event, as the coffee would be served at all Joffrey’s kiosks in WDW® Parks and Resorts.
The substrate and build of the bag made it incredibly challenging to photograph and impossible to use for live footage, so with a two-week turnaround, 3D animation proved to be the best option for our launch video.
I created a 3D model of the bag, built a material that emulated the satin finish and gold accents, modeled assets that aligned with the visual guidelines, and animated the 3D elements.
This video was used in the PR package, social media, and the Joffrey’s Disney Springs location televisions to promote the coffee blend, which was available throughout the celebration and was not only successful in itself, but also opened the door to many more licensing partnerships for the future.
