Role: Front-end / WordPress developer Duration: 10 days Outcome: Interactive platform engaging the Bristol community to take action towards net-zero

Overview

Built a community platform with Oku Design to empower Bristolians to take action toward the city’s goal of reaching net-zero by 2030. The site provides actionable suggestions for small, sustainable changes and emphasizes interactivity and animation to engage users.

Responsibilities & Solution

Implemented Lottie animations exported from After Effects, including a site-wide intro and interactive elements, efficiently delivered for the web
Developed Fullpage.js full-screen slide presentation on the homepage, with Lottie animations triggered per slide
Built dynamic actions grids: content loads neatly under each row of three items using JavaScript, with progressive enhancement so the site still functions without JS
Created custom WordPress functionality for the pledge system: storing user choices in cookies and updating a pledge table for display via a news ticker
Applied CSS enhancements: off-canvas menu, CSS grid layouts, and subtle interactive touches for polish and usability

Outcome

Engaging, interactive platform that encourages community participation
Efficient, performant Lottie animations and smooth full-page interactions
Fully functional progressive enhancement ensures usability for all users
Demonstrates balance between creative animation and robust technical implementation
