BPIfrance launched French Care in 2022, a movement for healthcare professionals to meet, debate, exchange ideas, and create new opportunities to advance healthcare. With an initial text in hand, they entrusted us with the production of a motion design to highlight their values and encourage professionals to join the movement.
The client had two main references: one mixing 2D elements in a 3D universe, and the other featuring highly colorful transparency. They also had a visual identity with precise colors to respect and recognizable shapes, such as rounded rectangles resembling capsules.
Initially, there was a strong demand for icons. Our aim was to minimize any overly figurative signs. We opted for two dominant colors (yellow and green) integrated into a transparent sphere representing French Care. These colors refer to various healthcare sectors.
Additionally, there was a desire to transition from 3D scenes with great depth to more flattened scenes, highlighting the distinction between the diverse and lively world of healthcare and the need to be on the same hierarchical level to meet, exchange ideas, and set milestones.
DESIGN
There were very few conceptual deviations, but many iterations to find the ideal composition.
Between solid shapes coupled with smoked glass, the addition of blue or not for an extra touch of color compared to the gray gradient, and adjusted the prominence of icons, all while maintaining homogeneity throughout the video.
To liven things up and add depth, we included capsule shapes and colored or transparent pellets that twirl in the middle of scenes, guiding the viewer's eye to important elements and enhancing readability during transitions.
Sound design & music
To enhance this spot, Maximilien combined the sounds of played instruments with digital textures, reflecting the use of technology in the service of human beings.
The synthesizers underline specific movements of the motion, while the musical structure follows the different stages of the speech and the solutions presented, to create a fluid, coherent narrative.
As for the sound design, it remains light, ethereal and minimalist, echoing the motion design's refined visual universe.
Color Grading
The real challenge of this production was to preserve the colors of the French Care visual identity in a beautifully luminous 3D universe. Three days of R&D were needed to achieve a satisfactory result, blending charted colors with a bright, vibrant environment.
To polish the final look and add contrast, we used DaVinci Resolve, which enabled fast and precise color grading.
Conclusion
This project was a pleasure to work on. Working on illustrative 3D with a minimalist concept maintained from start to finish, with a client who listened attentively, allowed us to produce a video we're proud of.
We implemented a new workflow for colorimetry, more easily adaptable to various cases, and we hope to push this technique even further in future projects.
