Customer

The Customer is an American company that offers software to help 200 healthcare centers and retirement homes to process data related to patients and medication as well as build various types of reports.
Challenge
The Customer commissioned DataDesignCenter to rewrite the software – a Java application used by the healthcare centers for management and reporting of data on medication inventory, clinical services, patient data, marketing activities and others. Within the project, the Customer also wanted the tool to allow its users to enable quality population health analytics with prompt reports.
Solution
To ensure scalability and short query response time, our BI implementation team built an analytical Microsoft SQL Server data warehouse which would use a Transact-SQL script to load data from the relational database. The latter was consolidated from 200 databases during the application development process and totaled 12GB.

Currently, DataDesignCenter’s BI developers build reports with the JReport tool. Among the reports there are:

Medication Classification Report
Missed Medications
Hospital Readmissions
Employee Performance Report
Community Marketing Activity Summary
Results
The Customer’s clients are now able to improve their management processes thanks to prompt analytics reports. Together with DataDesignCenter, the Customer is also planning to build OLAP-cubes to store aggregated data for advanced healthcare data analytics and information processing.
