🏠 Overview

How can we include the email marketing feature in the mobile app & improve the experience?

✿ About

Nas.io is the tech arm and the community building section of Nas company. Nas.io provides a platform for community managers to make their community into a business.

✿ Project challenge

Since the feature is already on the desktop, the challenge was fitting most of the functionality from the web to the app - with limited screen real estate.

💡Solution

✿ Improve the text editor experience

In order for ease of formatting, key formatting tools are placed on top of the keyboard with attachments and more kept in the 'add' button.

The other elements at the top gets pushed out of frame when the user types a longer message that exceeds the initial height of the text editor box.

✿ Selection of recipients

Some of our users have thousands of recipients, hence the definitions of each basket have to be crystal clear for our users to know who they are selecting.

Additionally, users can search easily for users they want to omit.

✿ Default options when writing a message (based on data) 📊

Based on the desktop statistics of this feature, we found that most of the users select the same options when sending a message.
81.38% of desktop users selected 'members'

A total of 82.89% of desktop users have 'email' selected

Hence, we made the options selected by default so that users can focus on the meat of task — writing the message!
Futhermore, it was brought up that new Nas.io users do not understand the usage of this feature. So by displaying the recipients and delivery method, the purpose of this feature becomes clear. Since the title of this feature (Magic Reach) isn't exactly intuitive...

📱Final

👀Outcome

Many users that used the feature on the desktop, tried it on the mobile app as well — citing that it is useful when writing writing on the go, but they still preferred using the desktop version as it is easier to edit large amount of information. However, we do see the mobile version being used when sending simple plain text messages to the community.
