Under Pressure: Poster Campaign

Under Pressure

Personal Work

This project emerged as little more than an idea from a dream: blobfish — under pressure — i work under pressure. The more I thought, the more questions I had, and the more I worked, the more I enjoyed having fewer answers. I drew similarities between deep-sea marine life imagery and common designer sayings/grievances I commonly hear from my industry peers.
I created both a series of posters and a variety of stickers.
Blobfish = I Work Better Under Pressure
Though it is famous for its gelatinous form, the blobfish is actually a normal-looking fish when in its home of ~ 3000ft below sea level. The rapid rise from these depths to the surface is what distorts its appearance. We wouldn't look so good if we were launched into space, either! Hence, they, too, work better under pressure, as many designers say.
Angler Fish = Burning the Midnight Oil
The angler fish is notorious for its alluring light, used to attract pray in the dark depths of its natural habitat. How often are creatives also seen 'burning the midnight oil' when faced with a crunched deadline?
Frilled Shark = By The Skin of My Teeth
While 'by the skin of my teeth' is from the Old Testament, little is known about frilled sharks, though they do have hundreds of teeth that they cycle through over their lifetime. Though this is a bit more experimental of an association, this was initially a play on cutting one's teeth, which is an important part of stepping into the industry.
Enjoy!
