Introduction

UNQUO is an initiative started by SEBx with the mission to help solopreneurs manage their bookkeeping.

The Challenge

Problem It was early in the product's development and growth of the user base was stagnating. This project was set up as an initiative aimed at increasing the size of the UNQUO customer base.
Goal The goal of this project was to increase the number of users who could onboard and use the UNQUO app.

The Process

Understanding constraints & contextAs the product decision was to favour growth over creating user value and retention at this point in time, design decisions were aimed at achieving the most user growth possible. Collective thinking to figure out the MVP To start off, we held a workshop to understand the MVP of the aggregation product, and what would be needed technically and from design to enable fast and easy onboarding.
Deciding on a technical solutionUsing an aggregation service like Tink will enable more users to skip the credit check, which prevents most people from successfully onboarding to the product.
Sketching and quickly iteratingAfter gathering business and technical needs, I sketched out the flow needed to connect the accounts with Tink link.I synced with the development team frequently in order to get quick feedback on technical feasibility, and quickly iterate and improve the flow.

The Solution

Onboarding to the appThe onboarding to the app was shortened significantly, since it now basically only entailed signing up to the app’s terms & agreements.

The Outcome

The new onboarding was launched and the goal of reaching 1000 users by the end of the year was successfully reached.

Next steps & Learnings

After this project, a larger project was undertaken to explore adding more value to the app itself to address user needs that had previously been identified through user research.  I learned through this process how valuable and how much I felt was missing some of the user-centered methods that could have helped confirm some assumptions.
