I recently used Figma to create a series of templates for my soccer journalism side project, Goalmouth Scramble.

I'm a huge soccer fan, so covering the sport I love is a great passion project of mine. It also was a great opportunity for me to create social design in Figma, just as Instagram updated their dimensions for static posts to portrait.

The idea was to create a super-simple system that allowed me to very quickly recycle these templates on the fly. I've included the balance of a more 'branded' look, alongside lighter-touch designs in the feed.

My view is that editorial design needs more practical design thinking, and less fancy stuff on the screen.

My aim with all of these was to give more license to the storytelling and the caption on Instagram.
