CHAPTER TWO
2.0. HOST ATTACHMENT DEPARTMENT AND EVALUATION OF THE
ATTACHMENT PERIOD.
I started my work at Angelic Television on the 22nd August, 2023 at exactly 8:00 am. Upon arrival I was introduced to the management team of the company which was formed by Mr Bismark Oppong, Programs Manager and Mr Daniel Ampah, Events and Marketing Manager. I was formally assigned to the events and marketing department since it correlated directly with my fields of study. After this I underwent a full week’s orientation process where I was introduced to each department and educated on their respective roles and responsibilities.
At the office I worked with the events and marketing department but aided in other departments when the need arose. Some of the work I was assigned to do was;
Content Creation
Customer Service
Program Productions and Events Organization.
Hosting
2.1. DESCRIPTION OF WORK DONE
On most days my work consisted of welcoming clients and employees to the office. I was assigned the job of signing in and out every person in the vicinity and making sure every client was attended to. I also performed tasks like writing official letters, taking down meetings minutes, aiding in television show production etc. On other occasions I also went on the television channel as a co-host or panel to some programs like ‘Ama Ghana’ and ‘Angelic Street Dance’ just to mention a few.
CHAPTER THREE
3.0. MY CONTRIBUTION TO THE ORGANIZATION
I believe my contribution to the company was very crucial because I helped in the running of the day to day activities of the organization. I sat in many company meetings and contributed immensely to projects that could help the organization garner more attention and revenue.
3.1. CHALLENGES
During this exercise, the few challenges I faced were that of monetary issues. Due to constantly having to commute by car everyday to work and back started to pose problems especially in the rainy season when bus drivers and their conductors hiked up the prices of bus fares by going shorter distances and charging for different stops in the same area.
3.2. SKILLS ACQUIRED
During the attachment period I acquired a few practical skills and techniques. First and foremost I honed in on my skills on customer relations and service through constant communication and contact with clients and company employees. I also learnt about what goes into the production of television programs by helping in the production process and development of said shows. Lastly I extended my knowledge in public relations by going on national television and advertising company shows through interviews and acting as a panel on numerous television shows.
3.3. COMMENTS
Overall I enjoyed the industrial attachment process. It was an educational and practical experience and I believe the experience and skills I obtained will help push me further in my field of study.
3.4. OBSERVATION
One of my first observations was the willingness of the employees of the company to accept me into their midst. They welcomed me with open arms and eagerly took me under their wings to assist in my acquisition of practical knowledge and skills. Also employees went along well with each other , there were seldom any misunderstandings or quarrels and I was highly impressed with their ability to work together as a team.
CHAPTER FOUR
4.0 RECOMMENDATION
I would like to recommend that students in deprived areas who will be undertaking their attachment in urban areas should be supported financially to help them fund for their transportation .
Moreover, the school has done goodwork by seeing us through this exercise by providing supervisors to monitor our efforts. This has improved our practical aspect of work and made us ready for the future.
4.1. CONCLUSION
Throughout the industrial attachment process I learned a whole lot of new things which I wouldn’t have known about otherwise.I have gotten to know the inner workings of a media house and the responsibilities and roles of the departments and people involved. I now therefore know the responsibilities and duties of a member of the workforce and I strongly believe I will deliver when out in the workforce.
