Project Description

This was a very enjoyable logo design project completed for Gora Interiors. The client's brief was to create a simple and clean logo that effectively communicates the brand concept while reflecting its Ethiopian roots.

The word "Gora" ("ጎራ በሉ") is an Amharic term that carries a traditional and polite meaning, inviting someone standing at a person's door to enter. Its English equivalent would be the phrase "Please Get in," signifying an approval for the person to come inside the house. Therefore, the brand name conveys a welcoming and friendly feeling, inviting people to engage, commune, and enter.

Logo Concept

For the logo design, I incorporated the concept of "entering" or "ጎራ ማለት" and integrated it with the brand name using a box symbolizing an entrance from top view. On the entrance symbol, I introduced a traditional Ethiopic shape commonly seen in Ge'ez numbers and serif letters. This bold statement added an Ethiopian touch, capturing the desired feeling the brand aimed to convey.
