Consumer Energy App

SSE provides energy and related services to the UK market. They are one of the ‘Big Six’ energy providers. I worked on a new mobile application, ‘MySSE,’ for customers, providing features related to billing, payments, meter readings, and usage.

Ovo Energy acquired SSE Energy Services in December 2019, and active development of the app continued until June 2022. After this, I provided support during the customer migration until we shut the app down in October 2023.

The 'MySSE' app was created as a channel shift project within SSE's Digital Studio. The scope of my work on the project included the architecture, design, implementation, deployment, and support of a mobile app written using Xamarin. The MySSE mobile app was deployed to App Stores with a rating of 4.6 on Google Play and 4.8 on the iOS App Store. The app has had over a million downloads with around 350K monthly active users and was considered a significant digital channel by SSE.
