Two images called hero.jpg can be completely different assets. Meanwhile, hero-768x512.jpg might belong to the same upload as hero.jpg.

This is how “just move the content” becomes detective work.

I’ve released wp-migrate-core 0.2.0, my CLI for inspecting WordPress exports and generating an Astro starting point.

This update adds a media inventory and a URL/redirect map.

Image matching uses attachment IDs or file paths first. WordPress filename variants can match when they identify one upload unambiguously. Similar names across different hosts or folders stay separate. Guessing wrong here could quietly put the wrong image on a page.

The URL map connects exported permalinks to proposed routes. Query-string URLs need a manual decision, and duplicate routes stop conversion.

The HTML report brings those findings together with missing attachment records, missing alt text, and content that needs rebuilding.

Everything runs locally against the export. Downloading media and applying reviewed redirects are still separate steps.
