Project overview Athena Pantheon is set to be Kenya’s ultimate coastal music & culture festival. Located in Diani Beach, it promises three days of Afro-house, live performances, curated hospitality, and modern event logistics.
Recognising a gap in the digital experience for event-goers — especially given the scale and ambition of the festival — I created a full-fledged web application prototype to elevate the festival’s online presence and user journey.
My Role This was a speculative design project executed entirely at my own initiative. I crafted everything from high-fidelity UI layouts and information architecture to interaction flows and branding touches, based on my own interpretation of how a premium, trustworthy, and immersive experience should look and feel.
Key objectives & design rationale
Modern & premium aesthetic: The look and feel aim to reflect the coastal luxury of Diani Beach and the high-calibre festival experience — clean typography, bold imagery, generous white-/negative space, and a colour palette that suggests both energy and reliability.
Trust & accessibility: Since ticketing, transport logistics, and stay accommodations are all embedded in the event experience, the interface needed to evoke security, clarity, and ease. I prioritized intuitive layouts, clear calls to action, and accessible components (e.g., forms, navigation) to make the experience inclusive.
Streamlined user flows: From discovering event details (artists, schedule, site) to booking travel/shuttle, hotel, and tickets — I mapped out user-flow diagrams to eliminate friction. My aim: users should feel confident that every step is simple, guided, and transparent.
Responsive design & mobile-first mindset: Knowing that much of the audience will access the site via mobile devices, I designed mobile-first, then scaled up to tablet and desktop. Important elements like QR check-in, live wall, and transport integrations were prioritised in the mobile view.
