Pick for Us — Less Debating, More Doing

A playful web app that helps people decide what to eat, watch, or do. Role: Product design and development Tools: MagicPath, React, TypeScript, Vite, Replit, Cloudflare Pages, GitHub Live website: pickforus.promdevs.com

The challenge

“What should we do?” can turn a simple plan into a long conversation. I wanted to create a lightweight tool that makes everyday decisions easier—and adds a little fun along the way.
The goal was straightforward: let people put their options together and get a fair, random pick without signing up.

The approach

I designed the experience around three steps:
Choose a category: Food, Movies, Activities, or Anything.
Customize the options: Add your own ideas, remove choices, or temporarily exclude them.
Spin the wheel: Get a decision, save it, or try again.
Keeping everything on one screen makes the app easy to understand and quick to use.

The visual direction

The interface combines warm cream backgrounds, an orange accent, and soft pastel wheel segments. Rounded cards, simple illustrations, and conversational copy give the app a friendly personality.
The layout separates choosing options from spinning the wheel, with clear numbered steps connecting the two. On smaller screens, the sections stack vertically.

Key features

Animated decision wheel with equal chances for every included option.
Four categories with ready-to-use suggestions.
Custom options and individual inclusion controls.
Saved picks and recent decisions stored in the browser.
Responsive layouts and visible keyboard focus states.
Input validation and disabled controls during a spin.

From design to launch

I created the interactive design in MagicPath, then adapted it into a standalone React and TypeScript website.
For launch, I added prerendered HTML, search and social metadata, structured data, a sitemap, and a branded sharing image. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages under a custom domain, with the source versioned in GitHub.

Validation

I checked the core interactions, including option exclusion, winner alignment, spin locking, saved-pick persistence, category switching, and validation messages.
After deployment, I verified the public site’s canonical URL, creator metadata, sitemap, sharing image, and missing-page response.

The result

Pick for Us is a live, no-sign-up decision tool that turns everyday indecision into a simple, playful interaction.
The current version works entirely in the browser, keeping the experience lightweight. Saved picks stay on each visitor’s device.
