InstantCard started as an internal solution while working with LabourList, where social media growth depended on consistently publishing high quality, branded visuals.
The problem was speed and consistency. Creating images in Figma for every article was time consuming and introduced inconsistency across posts. Social media managers needed a way to generate engaging visuals directly from source content without switching tools.
I designed and built InstantCard to solve this. The product automatically pulls Open Graph metadata from any article and generates a branded social card by combining the headline, logo and a high resolution version of the featured image. This reduced the process of creating a post-ready image from minutes to seconds.
The product was built end to end by me using Next.js and TypeScript, and deployed on Vercel. It was used extensively by LabourList and other UK-based publishers.
I launched InstantCard on Product Hunt where it reached #11, validating the idea and leading to my first paying customers. Since launch, I have continued to iterate on the product based on real user feedback and have grown it into a small but active SaaS.
