DocxToWP — DOCX to WordPress Plugin

DocxToWP is a WordPress plugin I built to solve a simple but common problem: moving content from Microsoft Word into WordPress without spending time on copy-pasting, reformatting, uploading images, and manually setting up SEO data.

I designed, developed, and launched the product as an independent WordPress plugin.

Content teams, bloggers, agencies, technical writers, and publishers often create their content in Microsoft Word before publishing it on WordPress.

The usual workflow involves:

Copying and pasting content

Fixing headings and formatting

Uploading images manually

Rebuilding tables and lists

Adding featured images

Setting categories and tags

Re-entering SEO metadata

Repeating the process for every document

This becomes especially time-consuming when working with dozens or hundreds of documents.

I built DocxToWP to turn that workflow into a simple WordPress-native process.

Users can upload a .docx or Markdown file directly from the WordPress dashboard, review the content, and publish it as WordPress content without rebuilding the document manually.

The plugin preserves headings, formatting, lists, tables, links and images while converting the content into WordPress-ready output.

I started with the core DOCX import workflow and gradually expanded the product based on real-world publishing requirements.

The Pro version introduced higher-volume workflows such as bulk importing, automated SEO metadata, drip publishing, activity history and rollback.

This allowed the plugin to support both individual bloggers and teams managing large document libraries.

DocxToWP is now a live WordPress product with a free version available through WordPress.org and a Pro version for advanced publishing workflows.

The product website, documentation, free tools, pricing, and marketing funnel were also built as part of the product.

This project demonstrates my ability to take a product from idea → architecture → development → UX → launch → ongoing product development.

It also shows my experience building WordPress products beyond traditional website development, including custom plugins, complex content workflows, third-party integrations, and scalable publishing tools.
