AWAI is a concept brand for minimal ceramic teaware. The name comes from the Japanese 淡い: pale, faint, gentle. The brief I set myself: build a complete brand and a Shopify store where every product image is generated by AI, without the products ever looking different from the real items.
The project is told in four parts: the brand system, the wordmark, the content pipeline, and the storefront. It is a work in progress.
The brand system: wordmark, palette, type and visual rules
The system
Five colors, two typefaces, and a short list of rules that every image and page has to follow. One window light, soft long shadows, two props at most, no bright colors. The rules were written first, so they could later be handed to an AI agent as instructions.
Four typefaces tested for the wordmark
The wordmark
The logo is set in a real typeface, never drawn by AI. I tested four: Shippori Mincho felt too literal, Zen Old Mincho too heavy, and Jost too cold for ceramic, so Jost moved to body text. Cormorant Garamond, set light with wide tracking, was the closest match to the meaning of the name.
From one supplier photo to a Shopify draft
The pipeline
Claude, connected to Higgsfield and Shopify, runs the same steps for every product. It starts from one real supplier photo and the real specs, writes the copy under strict rules (no "handmade", no origin claims, missing specs marked [TBD]), and generates a 4-image set: main shot, still life, ritual and detail.
Every image is checked against the supplier photo. The first gaiwan set was rejected twice: the glaze came out glossy when the real piece is matte, and the lid was drawn taller than the real one. Both were regenerated from the reference. Approved listings are saved to Shopify as drafts, never published automatically.
Where it's at
Two of six products are complete, each with copy, specs and a 4-image set built through the pipeline. The remaining four, including a matcha bowl and a gift set, will run through the same workflow. The store is labeled as a concept and is not for sale.

A concept teaware brand where AI turns one real supplier photo into a full image set, checked against the original so products never look better than they are.
