I wanted one simple answer, how much money do I have and where is it. So I built an app for it.

Every month I opened four bank apps and a spreadsheet just to get one number. None of the finance apps I tried fit how I handle my money, and most wanted an account or my bank login. So I decided to build my own, made to measure. It was also an excuse to learn something new, the whole road of shipping an iOS app.

I started with the screen I wanted to open every morning, calm, dark and with every account in one place. Joa is built with SwiftUI and SwiftData and syncs through private iCloud, so there is no sign-up and no server of my own. Along the way I added an Apple Pay shortcut that logs each purchase by itself, the feature I use the most. For the launch I tried a few design tools, made the video with ElevenLabs and Claude Code, and the App Store images with Claude Code.

Joa is live on the App Store and free. It’s the first app I’ve shipped, and the one I now open every day.
