At Green Oil, a company focused on eco-friendly products, I was tasked with improving their e-commerce platform to address security risks and support their sustainability goals. The existing system was outdated, with data protection issues and poor performance. I deployed an open-source e-commerce solution that strengthened security, improved efficiency, and boosted sales.
First, I audited their current setup to find security flaws and performance issues. I then upgraded the platform to a more secure, scalable open-source framework. This included adding SSL encryption, optimizing server settings, and using security plugins to protect customer data. I also improved the website’s speed and reduced its energy usage, aligning with Green Oil’s environmental values.
To enhance the user experience, I redesigned the website for better navigation, made it mobile-friendly, and simplified the checkout process to reduce abandoned carts. I also added analytics tools to track user behavior and find areas for improvement.
These changes led to a 30% increase in sales, driven by stronger security, faster performance, and a more user-friendly design. The website also became more energy-efficient, supporting the company’s eco goals. This project showed my ability to deploy secure, open-source e-commerce solutions while meeting both business and environmental needs.
