Project: AI-powered mobile app for gravel cyclists
Role: UX/UI Designer
Challenge: Design an intelligent route discovery experience that generates personalized gravel cycling routes based on user health metrics, performance data, and preferences, eliminating the manual planning process while ensuring routes match rider capabilities.
The Problem
Gravel cyclists face several challenges when planning rides:
Manual route planning is time-consuming and requires local knowledge
Routes often don't match the rider's current fitness level or goals
Discovering new, interesting routes requires extensive research
Difficulty estimating whether a route is appropriate for their skill level

This project highlighted the importance of balancing technology (AI route generation, health metrics integration) with a simple, approachable interface. The key insight was that users don't want to "use an AI", they want to discover great rides effortlessly.
By focusing on the emotional outcome (exciting, personalized rides) rather than the technical capabilities (ML algorithms, data processing), the design creates an experience that feels magical rather than mechanical.
