An existing internal platform was failing under load: dashboards timing out at filing peak, with gaps in the one feature that matters most for a regulated firm, the audit trail. The instinct is a full rebuild. For a firm with live deadlines, that's the wrong answer.
I diagnosed first: stabilise what works, rebuild only what can't be saved. The audit trail was re-architected as the data model itself, with transaction-level logging of who changed what, when, and the previous state. Stability in weeks, not a 6 to 12-month offline rebuild.
