Ongoing Shopify design and development for Bache Studio, a UK Shopify partner for independent brands. I work inside their team on client stores: building theme features, solving e-commerce problems and setting up the tools brands rely on.
My role
Shopify designer-developer working within the studio’s workflow. I pick up tasks in Basecamp and work in the studio’s GitHub repos on a branch per task. I preview changes with Shopify CLI and send pull requests for review, so nothing goes live without sign-off.
Selected work
Editable testimonial feature. Added a quote overlay to a homeware brand’s stockist page, with settings in the theme editor for the quote, attribution and position (top, middle or bottom). Its styling reuses the homepage’s existing design, so the store stays consistent and the client can update it without a developer.
Store locator map. Set up a branded Mapbox map for a stockist locator: restricted API token, a custom map style matched to the brand book, and a custom pin icon. Found that the newer Mapbox style type showed as a blank map in the store locator app, and rebuilt it on a compatible template.
Cart order note limit. Limited order notes to 150 characters in both the slide-out cart and the cart page, with a live counter styled to match the theme’s existing gift-note counter.
Checkout discount issue. Investigated a customer’s Klaviyo discount code that failed with Shop Pay. A test confirmed the setup worked, which pointed to customer-specific code limits rather than a store bug.
Pop-up sale inventory. Advised on setting up a separate retail location for an in-person sale without affecting stock synced to a third-party fulfilment partner. Also explained why discount codes weren’t the right fit for mixed full-price and sale stock.
How I work
One branch per task, with clear commits and pull requests that include previews and screenshots
Estimates up front, hours tracked per task, and issues flagged before going over
Plain-language updates, including any decisions the studio or client needs to make
Workflow Process
Ongoing
Shopify theme development, CRO fixes, app setup and integrations (Klaviyo, store locators, inventory) for the studio’s client stores, at around 10 hours a week.
