MANCHESTER CITY COUNCIL - Manchester Dementia Alliance

Commissioned by Manchester City Council, the Manchester Dementia Alliance (Alzheimers Society, Together Dementia Support and Manchester Carers Forum) were asked to produce new literature to help individuals and families affected by dementia.

These documents were to be the first of their kind, and I had the privilege to be asked to help assist with the branding, design and production.

By collating their data, contacts and resources, the Manchester Dementia Alliance wanted to produce two documents: A Directory of Services and a Dementia Wellbeing Plan.

Each individual member of the Dementia Alliance already had their own brand. However, now collectively known as the Dementia Alliance, I had to create a brand look and feel that felt inclusive of each member and that also had its own recognisable voice.

For the Directory of Services, I answered this by introducing graphic devices and colours that represented each of the Alliance members. Blue from Alzheimer's Society, Green from TDS, and Aqua from Manchester Careers Forum. The graphic devices had rounded corners save for one. This created a shape reminiscent of a speech bubble to represent the communication and collaboration of the Dementia Alliance, as well as representing all the voices of those affected by dementia.

The Alliance were also commissioned to co-produce a brochure to show what living well with Dementia in Manchester should look like.

It was to be presented to commissioners, to influence change to the current pathway, and shape the future of Dementia services within Manchester.

To get across the idea of the 'Dementia Journey' that people face at each stage of disease, from diagnosis to end of life care, I incorporated a 'road-like' graphic device that travels through the document. Connecting each chapter for an easy to follow read.
