I love to see small businesses and charities achieve their goals, and when my design work helps them do that, it can be its own reward.
I had the privilege to work with Manchester-based charity Together Dementia Support on a number of varied and rewarding animations. The charity give so much to so many, for free, so it was great to be able to give something back.
Animated driver commercial
TDS needed a new minibus driver to transport their members to and from their activity groups in and around Manchester.
The charity weren't having much luck receiving applicants, so they asked me to create a short animated advert to put out via social media to help promote the position.
Frames from the animation
I developed the illustration style taking inspiration from the charities' logo and produced the animation in Adobe After Effects. The film had to have an upbeat and inviting tone to it so I also sourced and edited an appropriate soundtrack.
As a result of the animation launching across the charities' social media platforms, they were able to find and recruit a new minibus driver within one week.
Miles for Memories
TDS do a lot of fundraising events to raise funds, not only for themselves, but also for the local community.
For one such event, the charity reached out to me to produce a short piece to promote their 'Miles for Memories' campaign.
To raise money to support people living with dementia in and around Manchester, the charity wanted to promote a static bike ride in a well known supermarket.
Frames from the animation
The animation I developed needed to be short, punchy and fun and was launched across social media and on the charities main website.
For this campaign, TDS partnered with The Big Give to double any donations given in an allocated time window.
To qualify for the scheme, TDS needed to raise a certain amount by the end of August 2023. At the time of briefing, this didn't give a lot of time in order to reach the deadline.
I was asked to create two engaging animations. The first was to raise awareness of the campaign with enough time for organisations to pledge before the deadline. The second animation was to then ask for donations that would be doubled by The Big Give during November and December 2023.
