Cross River State Library Logo Concept

Mete Oyama

My Logo Design Concept for The Cross River State Library, Calabar, Nigeria
My Design Choice
My decision for this particular concept was the markings you see on monoliths which are common in cross river state, knowledge which i represented with a book icon, agriculture which i represented with three leaves and the fact that the state Library used to be a Prison. The Shield signifies Strength, not just cause of something as cheesy as “Knowledge secures the foundation of our lives” but due to the history of the library. The Library was founded in 1989, but before that it was a prison called Bricksfield Prison which was founded in 1890, but the prison was destroyed during the Nigerian civil war in the late 1960s and only the wall at the gate of the library was left standing, so I see that as strength and thereby has to be incorporated into the logo.
Font Used
I used the Inter font which can be found on fonts.google.com
