Oxcombe Weddings is a historic English country estate in Lincolnshire, centred around a beautiful old church and expansive grounds. As the business expanded into weddings, the team needed to go from no digital presence to launch-ready in under two weeks, in time for wedding season.
The challenge was not simply speed. The website needed to feel timeless, quintessentially English and refined, while remaining warm, approachable and commercially effective.

The Challenge

Oxcombe Weddings was starting from scratch, with no website, no Instagram and no digital presence.
With only a handful of weddings completed, there was very little customer insight available. Rather than designing from behavioural data, the challenge became creating a thoughtful, best-practice foundation that could launch quickly and improve over time.
To meet the timeline, I used a Framer foundation as a starting point. However, the original template felt visually disconnected from the venue. It was overly sentimental, animation-heavy and far removed from the character of a historic English estate.

My Approach

I approached the website as an extension of the estate itself.
The venue already had a strong sense of place, with historic architecture, blue-painted details and beautiful grounds. The digital experience needed to feel equally grounded and timeless.
I substantially reworked the original foundation. This included simplifying layouts and navigation, reducing visual clutter and animation, refining typography with a more editorial serif direction, and building a colour palette from the estate itself, drawing from the blue details found across the barns and shutters.
Because photography was limited, I curated imagery carefully and thought about emotional pacing, balancing atmosphere with practical information so couples could both imagine themselves there and understand the offering.

Simplifying the Journey

One of the biggest UX decisions was simplifying the experience.
The original template surfaced too much information too quickly, so I streamlined the homepage and focused on a clearer conversion path: discover the venue, download the brochure, book a site visit.
I helped shape the information architecture and structure content so practical details, including ceremony options, food and drink, accommodation and venue spaces, felt easy to navigate. I also custom-built a responsive pricing comparison component, helping communicate Oxcombe's structured pricing clearly while maintaining the premium feel of the brand.

Building for Conversion

A major goal of the website was brochure downloads and enquiry capture.
I integrated Mailchimp for lead generation, custom-building the front-end form experience so it felt seamless and visually aligned with the site. I also integrated Calendly to simplify site visit bookings.
Behind the scenes, the site was designed to be easy for the client to manage independently. Reusable components and CMS-powered content made updates simple, which was particularly important for a new business still refining how they wanted to present themselves.

Outcome

The website launched in under two weeks, giving Oxcombe Weddings a polished digital presence ahead of wedding season and an effective way to begin capturing brochure downloads, enquiries and site visits.
