December, together — Interactive Advent Sample

December, together is an independent working frontend sample for an illustrated Advent experience. It uses fictional content and original AI-generated placeholder artwork; it is not a commissioned campaign or a client result.

The challenge Turn a single winter piazza into clear, accessible daily interactions on desktop and phone, with date-based unlocking and a structure ready for supplied translations.

What actually works • Three clickable scene zones and three authored daily moments inside a 24-day calendar. • Locked, available and completed states, plus revisiting earlier moments. • A preview-date control that demonstrates unlocking. • English and French sample content and interface switching. • Optional browser-local progress that survives a reload, with opt-out and reset. • Responsive layout, keyboard controls, visible focus and reduced-motion support. • Gentle scene warmth changes as moments are completed.

Verification Checked at 320, 390, 1000 and 1440 pixel widths, including date boundaries, completion persistence, opt-out, language switching and keyboard activation. Four automated tests cover date and progress rules. Independent review caught two edge cases, which were fixed and checked again.

My role I direct scope, priorities and review. AI assists with implementation, original artwork and testing. The screenshots show the working sample; they are not illustrations of an unbuilt interface.

Scope Three sample moments are complete. The remaining 21 days, client assets, animation/audio integration, production translations and hosting/embed requirements would be agreed as paid work. No client assets, personal information, backend or analytics are included. The working demo, code and artwork files remain private.
