When I first discovered the New Balance x Joe Freshgoods 993 collab, it was an instant attraction and I knew I had to buy myself a pair, the pink ones specifically! 🤩👟

I come from Manila, so global shipping would generally take a month. After I checked out and secured myself a pair, instead of checking tracking updates by the minute, I decided to model it in Blender instead.

This was a challenge for me as modeling a pair of shoes, particularly the NB 993s, is daunting and intimidating. It had unique shapes and meticulous details to accurately represent the most realistic shoe.

The process took longer for me as I had to pause after every move to search for YouTube tutorials on what to do next, but seeing the shoe come to life was a rewarding experience.

While I was already familiar with how After Effects works, animation on Blender and treading through the UI still had a steep learning curve. It wasn't the best in hindsight, but I remember feeling so proud of myself for learning how the simplest pillow fluff animation and physics worked.
